The Public Defender Board is comprised of 9 individuals, each nominated by the Governor and appointed with the advice and consent of the Senate. Members serve staggered 3-year terms, and at least 5 are to be members of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Of their many duties, the Board is to submit the budget for the agency to the Governor.
The Agency Leadership Team (ALT) develops and implements the agency’s strategic direction, operational tactics, and agency-wide policy. The ALT draws upon its diverse set of skills, expertise, and experiences to function as a high-performing team.
